At City Fertility, we believe success comes from blending rigorous science with personalised and compassionate fertility care.

IVF (in vitro fertilisation), one of the most well-known fertility treatments and has helped millions of people around the world have a family. In Australia, 1 in 16 babies are conceived through IVF.

Every fertility journey is different, and understanding your individual needs and family goals is an important part of determining the right pathway for you. IVF may be one option, but there are several related treatments your fertility specialist might discuss with you based on your personal circumstances.

    These include:

    • IVF – In Vitro Fertilisation
Eggs are collected from the ovaries and fertilised with sperm in a specialised laboratory before the resulting embryo is transferred to the uterus.
    • ICSI – Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection
A highly specialised IVF technique where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg to assist fertilisation, often used in cases of male factor infertility.
    • FET – Frozen Embryo Transfer
A frozen embryo transfer (FET) involves thawing a cryopreserved embryo from a previous IVF cycle and transferring it into the uterus. This avoids the need for another full IVF cycle, which can reduce treatment time, cost and the physical demands of ovarian stimulation.
    • IVM – In Vitro Maturation
Immature eggs are collected from the ovaries and matured in the laboratory before fertilisation, reducing the need for ovarian stimulation medications in some patients.
    • PRP – Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy
A developing technique that uses a concentration of your own platelets, rich in growth factors, to support ovarian or uterine function in certain fertility situations.
    • Genetic Testing (PGT) – Preimplantation Genetic Testing

A laboratory process where embryos created through IVF are assessed for chromosomal abnormalities or specific inherited genetic conditions before transfer. PGT can help reduce the risk of passing on certain disorders and improve the chance of selecting embryos with the highest potential for successful implantation
