Early Fertility Treatments
Not everyone will need IVF treatment. After a specialist consultation and fertility testing, many people may have less‑invasive treatment such as ovulation induction (OI) or intrauterine insemination (IUI), also known as artificial insemination. In fact, around two‑thirds of City Fertility patients achieve a pregnancy using fertility treatments other than IVF.
It’s important to know that these treatments are not suitable for everyone and depend on many factors including
- Your age – as egg quality decreases with age and is linked to treatment success.
- Your fertility diagnosis – these treatments are unlikely to be recommended where there is sperm issues or male factor fertility.
- Your goals and desired family size – if you want two or three children, these treatments may not be recommended.
- Sperm quality and availability – these treatments are not successful where there is male factor infertility.
- How your body responds to medications – particularly in ovulation induction cycles.
If appropriate, Ovulation Induction or Intrauterine Insemination can provide a simpler, lower‑cost, and less intrusive pathway to pregnancy.
