Dr Nicola Fitzgerald is a gynaecologist and fertility specialist who brings warmth and reassurance to every patient she cares for.
Dr Fitzgerald completed her Bachelor of Medical Science, and Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with Honours at the University of Tasmania. She went on to complete her obstetrics and gynaecology training with Monash Health, Eastern Health and West Gippsland Hospital.
Passionate about women’s health, Dr Fitzgerald empowers women and couples to understand their management options, allowing them to make informed decisions and individualise their care. She is interested in all areas of fertility, particularly supporting individuals and couples who are beginning their fertility journey, considering egg freezing and managing PCOS. Her philosophy centres on being approachable, empowering and supportive.
Dr Fitzgerald also has a special interest in the management of heavy menstrual bleeding, minimally invasive surgery (both laparoscopy and hysteroscopy), and management of cervical dysplasia.
Her commitment to women’s health extends internationally to Pacific Island countries. During her training, she worked at a large teaching hospital in Fiji and continues to return regularly to teach, perform surgery, and mentor local doctors. She also founded PICCSI, a not-for-profit organisation providing free cervical cancer screening and treatment for women across the Pacific.
As a mum, she understands the hope and excitement of starting a family, and feels privileged helping others achieve the same joy.
