    Dr Matthew Lau is a highly experienced fertility specialist, obstetrician, and gynaecologist who combines advanced skills with a warm, supportive approach. He feels privileged to help people achieve their dream of parenthood and is committed to tailoring care to each person’s needs. Patients can see him for IVF and fertility care, gynaecology, obstetrics, and advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

    With over 13 years as a specialist, Dr Lau has trained and worked in Australia, the UK, and Asia, bringing a broad depth of knowledge to every consultation. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2000, completed a Master of Medicine (O&G) in Singapore in 2007, and gained membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK). He also undertook specialist training in reproductive medicine at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, as well as advanced fertility preservation training in Denmark. In 2016, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).

    Dr Lau is passionate about providing the highest quality care, whether supporting patients through pregnancy, offering surgical treatment, or helping individuals and couples navigate fertility challenges. He has particular expertise in LGBTQ+ fertility treatment, including donor cycles and partner IVF. Known for his gentle and understanding manner, he values open communication and works closely with patients and the wider care team to achieve the best possible outcomes.

    For convenience, Dr Lau offers telehealth consultations. He also speaks Mandarin, Indonesian, and Malay, ensuring language is no barrier to compassionate care.

    1. What do you focus on in your fertility practice?

    Dr Lau: “I specialise in IVF and fertility care, including ovulation induction (SOIUI), donor programs, and fertility preservation. My aim is personalised, compassionate pathways for individuals, couples and LGBTQ+ families.” 

    2. How does your surgical expertise support fertility outcomes?

    Dr Lau: “I offer complex laparoscopic procedures, such as myomectomy, cystectomy, and endometriosis surgery, to resolve structural issues impacting fertility, often enabling natural conception or improving IVF success.”

    3. What defines your professional philosophy in patient care?

    Dr Lau: “I believe in evidence-based, individually tailored treatment delivered with empathy and humility. My focus is helping patients feel informed, empowered, and supported.”
