Q&A:
Dr Peric: Shared decision making involves listening to the patients needs firstly, imparting my knowledge to ensure the patient makes a well-informed decision taking into account their needs and utilising the medical knowledge imparted throughout our discussions.
Dr Peric: Recurrent miscarriage is emotionally exhaustive, and the most important part of the consult is to provide patients with reassurance the miscarriage is not their fault. So many patients come in with guilt and this is misplaced and needs to be addressed. We need to investigate and see if we can identify a cause for the miscarriages and provide appropriate management for them.
Dr Peric: “Embarking on fertility treatment can be stressful and it is hard to prepare for the unknown. The patients need to feel supported, informed, and less alone in their journey.”
